December 17, 2011 was an important day as the Honourable Lt. Governor Steven Point officially opened the Sikh Heritage Museum at the Gur Sikh Temple with its first ever exhibit. The community of Abbotsford was proud as it opened the first museum of its kind in Canada. This inaugural exhibit called 100 Years of Settlement and Integration highlighted stories of the early Punjabi settler families in the Valley and included family portraits and pictures of old mills and the workers.
